The Nanjing Office of IDDW Design, known as Iddw, is not your typical office space. Spanning 70 square meters with a story height of 4.5 meters, this office stands out with its innovative approach to design. The goal was to create a space that promotes relaxation and passion, rather than laziness and temporary excitement.
One of the unique features of Iddw is the use of a single glass curtain wall for lighting in the 90 square meters elevation space. To compensate for this, a light-emitting wall was designed in the hall, ensuring adequate lighting throughout the office. The attention to detail in this design reflects the utmost sincerity of the designer, Wei Wang.
The materials used in the realization of Iddw include shadow wood, marble, filament mirror, and Changhong glass. These materials not only contribute to the aesthetic appeal of the office but also enhance the spatial level, creating a visually stunning environment.
The design team behind Iddw consisted of Director of Design, Wang Wei, as well as designers Wang Xiao, Zhu Kung, Yuan Kang Kang, and Wang Jing. Their combined expertise and creativity were instrumental in bringing this unique office design to life.
The project, which began in March 2016 in Nanjing, China, was completed in February 2017. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to explore different office modes and create a working atmosphere that fosters productivity and creativity.
One of the challenges faced during the design process was maximizing the use of space. To address this, the elevation space in the lobby was reserved, while the daylighting in the hall was simulated through a luminous wall. This not only solved the issue of limited natural lighting but also added visual interest to the space.
Iddw has received recognition for its innovative design. In 2020, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is given to designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements.
With its unique approach to office design, Iddw by Wei Wang is setting a new standard for workplace environments. By incorporating elements of leisure and relaxation, this design aims to create a more efficient and happy workforce, ultimately contributing to a better working world.
